How To Make a Baby Sling

It has been said that carrying your baby in a sling, close to your body, is one of the best ways to bond with your child. You do not need to pay for a baby sling or wait for it to come in the mail, however. It is easy to make your very own safe and stylish baby sling right at home. And it is kind of fun. All you need is some material to use and a basic grasp of sewing. Here is how you do it:
1) Gather all of the materials you need. The easiest and quickest way to do this is to use a sewing machine though if you do not have one of these you can spend a few hours sewing it together. First choose a fabric to use. This allows you to pick any print or style of fabric that you want. Make sure however, that the fabric is strong and somewhat expandable. The best kind to use is the kind that has a small percent of lycra in it.
2) Cut your fabric. The size of the piece of the fabric you will use is six feet by two feet.
3) Fold. Fold the piece in half along its length and turn the piece so that the corners face the right.
4) Measure. Check the length of the top of the fabric. This should be a tad longer than the distance between your shoulder and hip. The length of the bottom should be three inches longer than the length of the top. Cut a "smile" shape from the top mark to the bottom mark.
5) Sew the fabric along the "smile" to create a pouch.
6) Sew the inside of the pouch. Turn it inside out to make it simpler and french seam the inside of the pouch.
7) Putting it together. Sew the top edge to the bottom edge. And that's it. You're done
